Title: Nappa leather in a GTI
Post by: john_o on 02 October 2007, 14:01
Hi everyone,

I am currently awaiting an Edition 30 delivery  which is driving me crazy.
But recently I went to also have a gander at an EOS and spotted you can specify standard leather , or for even more Nappa leather.

The quality of the std golf leather is pretty poor imho (I know some of it is fake), but the Nappa is really nice and really has a quality feel. (my previous car was an E46 M3)

Has anyone retro fitted EOS (or other VW) seats into a Golf GTI?
And why does VW not allow Nappa quality as an option?   (its available on the sport R32 seats is it not?)

shame you cant get 1/2 leather black nappa for the ED30

Hi JohnO, welcome to the ED30 club

Don't know about the nappa leather tbh but I am more than happy with the standard seats in the ED30, a great compromise over comfort (the cloth) and stlye (the leather).  Best of both worlds in my opinion.

Sorry about the wait (its a killer!) but worth it!

I agree the standard leather in the GTI is a little poor.  I have a MK IV golf with leather and as you say, at least half of it is plastic.  (Headrests, seat backs, sides of bolsters and middle rear seat)   I decided not to go with leather with the MK V as the one I test drove had a similar leather / plastic combo.

I figured that I may go the re-trim route, as you can get a FULL leather interior using a much better quality of leather for about £1100 so chose the standard seats.

There's a guy on one of the Audi forums I used to visit who had his new A4 done here http://www.classiccarservices.co.uk/ and from the photos he posted, it looked great.
