A very nicegrey example with 18"s and rear tints

....Unmarked?

I think it might be from West Yorkshire Police. I've seen it a few times round the east of Bradford - twice with it's blues and twos going.

     and there I was today thinking that although Cop cars are getting getting more varied by the day, you'd never see a Golf GTI cop car.... even more paranoid now... are though laser detectors legal?
-
OOOOH
Going past there tomorrow. I'll look out for it now

Bloody coppers in nice cars are everywhere now!! and this is in my area!..... I wonder if i give a wave they will let me off??
I live in the worst place anywhere as I am in North Yorkshire but 5 miles each way and you visit west, south and east!! and each one has there own tactics for driver's!!
-
They probably paid no more than £14k for it from VW
5 door model ?
Wonder what the delivery time was

First Scoobys, now GTi's.
They will be prancing around in M5's soon.
-
seen a couple of unmarked 530D's recently down here in Wales so not far off the M5 (engine aside lol)
-
This car was pictured in Motorcycle news (MCN) a few months ago. Made me chuckle. Makes you wonder if someone somewhere is abusing there positiopn ha ha.
-
Or you could just turn your car into a police car lol

I usually wave and smile ar other Mk5 GTI drivers and also nice examples of Mk1/2/3. It'll be funny if I come across an unmarked police GTI and flash at them!
-
Don't bother with us MK4's then?

I was reading in one of the car mags yesterday that BMW actually had to detune the 330D as it would have been making more torque than the M3! i.e. a remap would give you quite a fast car...

....Not unless they look a bit 'special'. I have found that Mk4 drivers very rarely wave/smile back, so I've given up on them. Mk1 & 2's and some Mk5's are the friendliest. Modded GTI drivers are definitely the friendliest.
I always 'wave' to a Mk4/5 R32

Nottingham police use a dark blue BMW M5 on their strech of the M1.. i had a friend done by them doing 99.5mph over a period of 1.5miles... Lucky he still has his licence! Also in Leeds I have seen unmarked white bmw 5 series with blue lights flashing in the grill and rear screen patrolling the M1.. Not to mention Ford Galaxy undercovers although not sure if they are used as a persuit car... U have been warned!!
-
I was just joking, cant belive they actually have an M5. What a complete joke.
-
lol
In SA the Police all drive GTI's....
White ones. With 18' rims and some even have xeeenons.
I seen about 11 or so marked GTI's in the mothercity.
Old news 4 me.

I've waved/flashed/given the hazards one round for Mk5 owners and I think the response rate is about 10%. To be honest most seem like a bunch of total n0bs who probably though the Mk3 and Mk4 were improvements on their predecessors when they came out... I reckon the people on this forum probably represent a minority of Mk5 owners... but thats my experience. When I am driving my Mk1 or Mk2... now thats a completely different experience.

Could be the same car, they've probably just moved it round so that people don't get to know it too well

Up here ACPO guidelines state cars used for persuits (marked or otherwise) should be AWD. Using a gti for that purpose is just asking for trouble
