...and what a shed! Smokes like a demon and went to overtake an Inspector Clouseaux mobile and the accelerator cable detached itself from the pedal. Boring!
Had no tools so I stuck a twig in the throttle linkeage and drove home on available revs for the last 15kms. The queue behind me...
Anyway, needs lots doing to it. Good T cut and polish and later a paint job. Plus much morer. Will post pictures soon. Please don't be too unkind.
Gonna start a projects section on it too.

good luck

In other words... Its an investment: Imagine how much it will be worth when you're done!
Surely a new charger and a re-machined head and your more or less there?
-
Well a bit more than that, but essentially, yes. Didn't know these things had cats! That will take a bit of the power away.
Working in Germany for the forseeable future. No better place to by VAG stuff.
-
Yeah, your car will have a cat on if the vehicle was registered after 1st August 1992. Sounds like a good project to get stuck into! Good luck.
-
If an early 89 it can be legally de-catted, but I never said that to you!
-
Its a May '91 model. Can that be de-catted if I return to the uk and import it??
-
Like I said as long as its got a G or F plate it depends upon MOT station regardless of resgistration date as it can only get a DVLA pre G plate if going down that route!
-
My Rallye is an H plate and that's been decatted. They were compulsory on K reg 92 onwards. My J reg mk1 cab didn't have a cat, but the K reg's did.

I take it its a German car you bought then!! As you are out there??? I used to contract out in germanyand had a few cars over there nearly everthing out there has a cat on even if it has been retro fitted.... But if your running t on german plates you will have to keep it!!!! But when brought back you can bin it!!! K plate onwards is the rule!!!! Im seriously thining about doing a quick contact in belgium when myvalver is back on the road so I can pick up some trick parts while im out their and do a quick trp to the ring!!!!! Goo!d luck mate! They also have loads of local clubs out there if you have a look through the german mags And despite the ribbing the boxheads get the car enthusiasts are a well friendly and cool bunch!!! Can you pick me up some recaro subframes while you are out there!!!!!lOl

I live in Spain and the car is a Spanish one. I have read that if the car was registered in UK prior to a certain month in 1992, it can be run without a cat. But as I will be importing it when we move back, I think it has to stay on.
