Just thought I'd post about this car. My Dad's just picked one up, 04 reg. The new shape Golf looks a little different, but then again I should expect that for a totally new generation.
I'm deads chuffed with the 2.0 TDI engine though. It belts out almost the same power level as my chipped TDI Skoda Fabia, but is more punchy due to extra low down torque. It produces something silly like 250 lb/ft at just 1500RPM! :o
I got a go in it last night and as well as the lovely engine, it also corners very well too - I reckon there's some GT trickery in the suspension somewhere. Xenons too are cool to drive with, but I can't say they're any better than my vision-plus bulbs and 100W rallye main beam bulbs... It's a nice car but I won't be wanting one at ?18500 each! For 3K less than that I can get a new Fabia PD130 and have 3K change for modifications. A lovely car at hell of a price! :)

this is how vw are killing off the sales with high prices...
