Have a look at this review, see how it compares to other fuel comparison tests!

They use a Mk5 GTI as the performance vehicle and a Golf Diesel in the Diesel test.

Thanks a lot.
That's interesting, will read it now.
-
hmmm!
no difference between them, bummer, putting V-power in definately makes it FEEL quicker, ? expensive placebo effect?
bit of a contrast to the EVO article few years back which showed BP ultimate adding another 10 bhp to the GTI and the then shell optimax not much behind.
-
yes.. big difference from the EVO test... tbh I think the evo test was far more comprehensive, Dyno testing etc!
-
wheres the tesco :( ???????

^^^^^Down the road, turn left, just past Halfords!^^^^^
-
it shows the tesco in the focus results.... and says that 99ron tesco makes the car slower and less economical!!
-
hardly comprehensive if you ask me; only tested 3 types of diesel and two of them were BP!!
EVO test was much more comprehensive

I think the test is b0ll0cks. There's no way I'll be putting any 95RON shyte in my Ed 30
-
not only that, what damage it would and could cause to the FSI engine running on 95 octane!!!!!
-
Sorry guys, but I for one will continue with BP ultimate over 95ron shyte. I don't care what mpg I get or that there is "little difference in power". All I know is that it is what is recommended by VW and i'll stick by it.
-
Yeah, premium fuel is more expensive, but THE DIFFERENCE does not impact my finances much, it's the TOTAL price that does it. Which means, I will continue to put V-Power in my Schatz. Does it make any difference to power or longevity of the engine? I don't know. But better to be safe than sorry.
V-Power foreva!
-
hmmm.. I must say Im suprised at the results.. but only slightly. I always use sainsbury's premium fuel which costs about 4ppltr more than the standard stuff. This weekend I was on a 500mile round trip and had the opportunity to fill her up with shell V-power which i had previously heard good things about. I decided to do so but was slightly shocked at the cost of £1.06 which is significantly more than the usual stuff. However I noticed no difference in power, economy, or anything else for that matter... it was just the same as the sainsburys stuff!! In future i dont think I will be going for v-power of anything else other than sainsburys.. not only because its cheaper, but according to those results its one of the better performers.
I think we are all a little peeeved at those results because no one likes to hear they have been p1ssing money up the wall!! But the fact of the matter is petrol companies have devised a very clever way of making money out of us more caring motorists.. and may I add that VW seem guilty of joining forces with other companies/products to ensure joint marketing and healthier profits. Others do it so why not VW too??

On the Continent how much is Super more than normal unleaded Peskarik?
-
reading that test it reads that they only filled up with one tankful; well you're never going to see the difference on just one tankful! it took at least 3 tanks before i started seeing the benefits with my derv.
if you're going to do a test do it ruddy properly!!
EDIT - perhaps i'd better read it through properly....... :embarassed: still for the extra 3-4p i reckon the premium stuff is worth it.
But whats the point of testing a 1.4 petrol with a premium fuel  its only rated for 95RON......

They did it over a longer period for a Ford Focus to counter that argument...

ah cheers illyun; glad one of us is reading it properly

95 172.5
V-power 186.5
Diesel 181.5
Here fuel is cheaper than in EU
