Title: Drive shafts??
Post by: Teamheath on 27 September 2007, 21:48
Just been looking at a Mk2 Jetta.  1.8 GL 8v i think.
Goes and stops alright, and the body is very tidy indeed.

But when driving it knocks from the front off side low down.  Could it be a loose drive shaft??  Or worn one??  And if it is is it easy enought to fix??

Many thanks.

Could be the CV joint. Do you hear it when on full lock?

You can hear it all the time tbh, not just on full lock.  Def sounds like it knocks in time with a rotation of the wheel if that makes sence.

Could be the ball joint i spose tho.

Doesnt sound too nice and its a bit of a drive when i go pick it up so want to sort it straight away.
