Title: Fuel In sump :(
Post by: Gareth on 27 September 2007, 00:43
hey,

over the past few months i have seen that my oil level went up on its own  :undecided: so at firts i thought its the head gasket thats no good but when i drained the oil no water but smelt of petrol a bit  :undecided: but when i took off the oil filter it was clear that petrol was in there because it smelt a lot and the oil was very thin! i have 1.6 ltr mk2 golf with a carb and its the ez engine i have been told its the fuel pump on the front of the block! any ideas? cheers

Quite possible that one of the seals has given up on the back of the fuel pump and it is pumping petrol into the hole in the block it attaches to. whip it off and have a look or just straight replace it, don't forget the gaskets. :)
