Post by: big-al on 26 September 2007, 00:12

CAN YOU RECCOMEND A GOOD CAR POLISH, I USUALLY USE AUTO GLYM !

WHATS THE BEST POLISH TO GET LIGHT SCRATCHES OUT? A CUTTING COMPOUND? AND THEN A COAT OF POLISH?

CAN YOU SUGGEST THINGS TO USE PLEASE.
(P.S, IM DOING IT BY HAND - NOT AN ELECTRIC BUFFER)

megs every time for me - scratch x will get light scratching and oxidation out and then gold class is a great wax/polish

I agree with Gfrankland - Scratch X is supposed to be superior to Autoglym SRP... Apparently SRP "fills/removes" whereas Scratch X is better at the removing bit.

Having said that, I really like the finish of SRP followed by a coat of extra gloss protection - Beads for ages!

thanks Conker - it's Guy btw

i think Megs scratch x and AG SRP are two completely different products... i only use scratch x for smaller area problems...   I used SRP for years and found it hard work by hand and also gave off a lot of dust.

gold class is great as a weekly wax.

if you are going to treat your paintwork try the megs 1,2 and 3 step polish system

AL - have you clayed your car yet? that's usually a very good starting point so that you can see what is paintwork problems and removed all contaminates like tar etc.

Collonite 476 is a superb and cheap wax that beads like crazy and has amazing durability.
