Hi there, just bought my first GTI, its a 05 with almost no extras, not really used to it yet and would like some tips from anyone who wants to share there experience!! To start there was a previous lady owner who kerbed the crap out of the standard 17" alloys, any refurb advice? Also I'm gona need some new tyres as these ones are getting really bare!!

that sounds like one gentle lady owner whos worn out the full set of tyres!!, welcome to the nuthouse , opps the safe house of the Gti forum,
a company called spit and polish are excellent for revamping damaged alloys although you have the 17' monza's and wouldnt be a problem finding someone to repair them. Each wheel would cost anywhere from £70-£100 per wheel depending on extent of the damage.Michelin tyres are on here the best tyre to go for(cant remember what type), but all depends on your budget, each one of those babys will set you back approx £110 each, but you can go down the line of some dunlop super duper sport max jobies, then they are nearly have the price, but im not gonna get into which tyre is best, have a look at lots of threads previously posted about them.
Enjoy the car, and dont be shy to share some pictures
