Title: PLEASE HELP ME
Post by: orrteece on 21 September 2007, 18:12
Hello all how are we doing, a lot better than me I hope? I have just recently purchased my first Golf MK2 GTI. I put it into Hawco  for a full service and the results were not good.  I was told that I needed a New Front Subframe as the one I have is nearly Rotten  O/S/R Shocker is leaking, It needs welding on the Bulkhead  the N/S/F and O/S/F Strut tops are worn. There are other minor problems that I have like central locking faulty but it locks with the keys so not a problem there. My boot does not open, think cable has gone but dont know.I am wondering if anybody has any good spares for sale or can point me in the right direction to any websites than sell this sort of stuff I would be much appreciated  I was told that the Front Sub Frame has to be in good condition so that it will last. Please Please help me if you can.It is a beautifull car and need help to bring it back to glory on the mechanics and structure side.

www.vwspares.co.uk (http://www.vwspares.co.uk) will be a good place for the top mounts. Go for the Golf g60 topmounts, they're slightly heavier duty.   As for the shocks, Boge Turbo shocks are very good for the money, they're gas rather than oil and around 20-30% uprated over standard shocks.

Where are you located? I should have a spare subframe available in the next week, from what i can see it looks good although i'd advise a coat of hammerite on any subframe you get unless it is brand new. With the boot, get inside and take the black plastic cover off, that will give you access to the lock mechanism.

Hope that is of some help, and welcome!
