Title: Headunit resets itself
Post by: dynamix on 17 September 2007, 17:10
I've just wired in a new head unit into my MK3, but annoyingly it resets itself every time I turn the ignition off (so CDs start from the begggining, its forgets my settings etc). Any ideas what wire I've left out? It's a Kenwood CD player, and other than this problem it all works fine.

Swap the red and yellow wires on the loom coming from the headunit around.

It would appear that the permanent live isnt connected or its connected to the ignition live which would cause the unit to lose all memory of settings and radio stations as soon as the ignition is off, establish which is the permanent and which one is the ignition and then connect them accordingly.

This is exactly what it was, swapped them around and problem solved, cheers!
