ok, my sunroof is leaking really badly on my mk2 golf, only bought the car about 2 weeks ago so dont know much about them, basically i was just wondering if you could tell me if my sunroof was factory fitted, its not the usal one you find with the winderthat slides back and forth, this one only goes up at the back, it has a handle which you push up at the back which says sunhatch on it, my mate seems to think that its been fitted by a previous owner, any help would be much appreciated as if it isnt factory then how could i get a new seal for it?

take it that the roof is glass? If so its an aftermarket one. Is it leaking through the seal around the glass or the body of the car? You either need to find the make and hope they are still in business. or use mastic. but the roof will then be sealed shut. least it wont leak.

yes is a glass sunroof, dont care if it seals shut as i never use the thing its pointless, whats mastic? and wheres the best place to get it?

Use a silicone sealant then (clear ). Should be able to get that at most hardware shops, and the gun to squeeze it on with.
Phone this place perhaps for a seal http://www.automobiletrim.com/index.html
Don't know if they sell to public or trade only. Or if they're too pricey, like buy a 100 metres of the stuff.

just go to b&q buddy, mastic is a type of sealer! i used black gutter sealer on my metal sun roof! should really get round to getting the propper seal but i never used it anyway!
