Title: Won't tick over

I'm trying to buy a Golf MK2 GTI 8v, 1990.  It won't tick over, seems to drive OK but just won't tick over, any ideas?

May just need setting up. Depending on which system you are running, check the sensors especially the dreaded blue one if a digifant.
