Fitted VDO gauges a while back now, been keeping an eye on both MFA Oil temp and the VDO one.
The VDO Was reading 140dC today (regularly does show this high), but the MFA show about 106dC max.
Since putting the VDO gauge in (using t-piece to run both oil temp senders) the MFA temp has dropped about 6ish degrees.
But how can there be a 30 degree difference - I hope the MFA is more accurate! :undecided: :undecided: :undecided:
I'm using a VAG 0-170dC sender to match the gauge. I have tried swapping the senders (I think!) and get the same difference?
Any ideas?
PS water gauge doesn't normally reach 3/4 before fan kicks and cools it down.

where did you mount the sensors.
i used the t piece and noticed the lower temp.
it is prob because the oil that sits in the t piece will cool down slightly once it leaves the engine and sits in the t piece.
i insulated mine and the temp did pick back up.
if the gauge and mfa are hugely different then it sounds like the sensor and gauge are not correctly matched.

I'll check the senders, but I'm think it is the right one.
Does anyone know the correct part number for to match the gauge? 0-170dC?
They normally read fairly close together, until I'm in in traffic the the VDO gauge goes intot orbit! The MFA only creaps up a little bit!
Cheers

140 is a bit high mate.

I don't believe the oil is at 140 though. The MFA is only showing 106.
Just trying to find out why the the VDO gauge is reading so high.
