has anyone done this, if so how did you get the trim round the cloum to fit?

I have the opposite. mk2 stalks with mk3 ignition surround. small trimmings around the bottom, but the rest fits fine

the only think you'll need to do is make the hazard switch hole bigger as the mk3's is about 3 times the size of the '90 spec mk2 switch.

Its a straight swap as long as you have the late 'central electric' version with the hazard switch on the top of the stalks.  Don't worry about having to make the hole for the hazard switch bigger, as you can just swap the switches round and use the MK2 switch with the MK3 stalks.

Or you could fit the MK3 ignition cowling, then the dashboard, then the brakes, might as well fit the engine too while you're at it ;)

As far as I know it just clips off, can you remove the cowling on yours and give it a try before you buy more stalks?

not directly no, the elctrical plugs are different, as is the ignition lock surround, and the ign switch. Oh and the entire steering column tube too, though you can get away with grinding the lug off but not what i would recommend.

sorry should have been more clear!
MK2 90spec column tube, ign lock housing and switch.  The lock housing and switch is same between MK2 & MK3 tho, but the outer column tube you want is a MK2 90spec one.
