Title: Factory Tints
Post by: Lagerlout on 13 September 2007, 00:47
Anyone have any pics of a Red (pref 5 door) Ed30's with the factory tints? Wondering what this combo would look like, especially with Black Rockinghams...

Hi thanks, yes I've seen this car but I don't think it has tints? If you look at the other side on photo's in the series it looks untinted? Thats what I'm trying to find out really, if this car is tinted or not.. Basically I think this is the look I want to go for..  or maybe white.. hmm grey? lol

What's the consensus tinted or not?

the rear factory tints seem dark to me, especially if you see them on a car with no front tint, as it come out of the factory.

Mine is tinted.. but you can still see through the car windows (look at my pics).

From personal use I find that it is not so much dirt that is the problem with white car, it is all the small dents. Somebody opens a door on parking and slams into yours - you have a black spot right away.   Also, with these nice black rims, the curbs are a real enemy.

I saw grey Ed30 with black rims, it looked nice. They all look nice, really, the Ed30s! Although black one with black rims - I'd consider that overdoing it. Black car should have silver rims, or black rims with wide crome lip.

Mine are tinted and I have no issues with seeing out of them. Look cool IMO

My rears came tinted, not my choice but had no choice if you know what I mean.

Not black (thank god) but darkish green, like a pair of Rayban Aviators. Far more subtle and stylish than I thought and quite appealing but don't go thinking you can leave your stash of 'doggy porno filth' on the back seat and have it go unoticed because it won't.

Awwww - why not!  Where else can I leave it then?

Right, serious question is it possible to order these Black Rockinghams (or are they Detroits?) when you place an order for an Ed30 in place of the Pescara's?

No, not in the UK.

IMO you pay to much for the factory tints, i had the rear quarter of my MK2 Leon tinted as standard but it looks weird so i got the front tinted to match now it looks far better, a good tinter should be able to do the rears for £80-£100.

Yeah thought it might need front tints to match, what's legal these days?

As for the Rockinghams, going to have to call in the favours to get a set then... hmmm!!

Tints at the front over standard glass = my insurance has just gone up in smoke

Non-factory tints on the rear will not be part of the glass like the factory fit. Factory fit tints do not have to be declared as a mod either :smug:

You may just be smoking a spliff, with a can of lager in the other hand and with your extra special third hand, flipping the finger to the plod as they pass you

On the other hand the law states that a certain amount of light must pass into the cabin to enable the driver to see out clearly. :nerd:

I do agree that it is a stupid law up to a certain extent. Some people would always take it too far if there wasn't a limit though

Mind you some people are dangerous divers when their windows aren't tinted at all
