Hi trix, and welcome to the forum.

Dunno, never seen 'owt like that before. Can you post some pictures.
Maybe this will help: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=wald&btnG=Google+Search&meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB
only get 23 to gall driving like my granny.
Is it brand new, and not yet run in. Also, what kind of driving are you doing?
anybody know how to change courtesy bulb under door mirror not ind bulb.x
See if this thread can point you in the right direction: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=54324.0

OK, whilst it is not yet run in, the engine will be very slightly "tight", which will have a small but noticeable effect at worsening the fuel economy. It should start to free up from roughly 3,000 miles, and be nicely run in, and making maximum power after 10,000 miles.
Secondly, the town driving does no favours for fuel economy, whereas constant cruising along the motorways or similar is the best way to get good fuel economy.
Don't forget that because it is a GTI, you will probably be exploring the "smiles-per-mile" attributes, much more than the "miles-per-gallon" attributes!
Did you manage to sort out the bulb which needed changing? If I read your initial post correctly, I think you mean the "puddle" lights in the bottom of the exterior door mirrors - in which case this should help: http://volkswagen.msk.ru/body/g5/g5_66-02.pdf - Exterior rear view mirror. BTW, I presume it has the manufacturers warranty, so a trip to the stealer should sort it for you.
Hope this helps, and stick around the forum, as we are generally a very friendly and helpful bunch.

That's a cool find - I didn't know about Wald. How did you manage to find that info?

I hadn't heard of them either. I just Googled "Wald + VW" and up came the link.

Ahh, I suppose me forgetting "VW" in my google search was the fatal error! :embarassed:

OK, you broke it! Then you will need to download that PDF document I listed in reply #4.
To save breaking the mirror glass if you dont have the proper tool, get yourself an 18" length of nylon cord (the stuff you use for curtain pulls, or bathroom light pulls) and loop it behind the mirror glass and CAREFULLY pull. Don't feel too bad if you break the glass - I rekon about 1 in 10 times they break, no matter how careful you are.
Ohh, reading the PDF, it states they are LEDs, and non-replaceable, so you will need to get the complete light assembly which clips into the mirror housing!
