Title: V6 Golf Sump Cover?
Post by: jmclellan on 11 September 2007, 20:22
Hi

I have a 2002 golf 4 motion v6 2.8, unfortunatly i had a bumb and the sump was damaged, getting the car from the garage the sump cover was missing, my problem is i am sure there was a cover but the garage say that it should be a splash gaurd.

Can anyone confirm if it should be a cover or splash gaurd.

Thanks in advance for your help.

cover / splash guard =  the same thing

basically its designed to a) stop you putting a hole in the sump and b) having all the road rubbish being thrown up and dirtying your engine bay

welcome to the forum by the way

the sump guard / belly pan / splash guard whatever you want to call it, also affects the aero dynamics, has sound proofing and helps hold the wheel arch linners up.

Don't ever lower your V6.  Mine was by the previous owner.  It's pretty good to drive but u have to avoid every speed bump, beercan, cig packet, cigarette but or dead fly that lies in the road.
