Title: 185/55/15 on Mk2?
Post by: c8dhc on 11 September 2007, 17:35
The car has been lowered and Im currently running 195/50/15 but have no problems with them scraping. Im after getting some slick tyres for trackday driving and have been offered some 185/55/15. Anyone else got this size fitted ok?

Cheers, Dan

My 92 16v has 185/55/15's on it, wheels are 6x15 BBS RA's.

So yes they'll fit.

You'll find there's less choice and they cost more than the 195/50's.

what he said. most people go from 185's to 195's cos they're cheaper and easier to get.
However , if you've been offered them cheap, they're almost exactrly the same rolling radius.

Thanks for replies.

Car had 1st outing on track at weekend + gotta sort something with tyres/arches now!

Front left is catching arch badly + has scraped tyrewall to about half way down -

Also, arch liners (or whats left of them) have to go!

Will be upgrading ARB's when I have funds available as this will help stop bodyroll.

The car is only going to be used for trackdays during the summer so not really a problem.

Wouldn't recommend removing on a road going car though!
