just found this for sale locally, i have a mk2 1.3, was thinkin of buying this for some bits as its reasonable low mileage as well, same owner since the early 90's and well looked after, would i be able to use everything from this to help me with the engine swap, eg fuel tank lines etc, also would want to put the front end on my golf, is this easy to do? any help much appreciated, also is that a good price, seems ok, like the wheels as well

Jetta GTI £175 eh snap there hand off what a cheap project!! bits are easy to get a hold off too!!
-
yer thort it was a bit of a bargain, was thinking of buying it for bits for my golf, as my golf i s black and i could use the front wings, bumper and headlights etc, then put the engine in my 1.3, it has rear discs and was just wondering if the rear beam would fit my golf, anyone?
thanks

Self the golf, keep the jetta, far easier and less time consuming than arsing about with engine swaps.
jettas are cheaper to insure aswell.

...Plus you dont see many jetta gti's around. i like them!

I agree, I dont see why you would go through the bother though of putting the front end and running gear from a perfectly sound jetta onto a 1.3 golf, isnt worth the hassle and you may as well just keep the jetta
In my eyes you should never build a car you can buy and you should never break a decent car to start with
-
well ive made my mind up, if i get it which i probs will, ill break it and put the bits on my golf unless its really nice and i mite keep it whole

(not strictly true, but you should keep the poor jetta, especially with that mileage)

i agree totally, keep the jetta ditch the golf, its only a poverty spec golf after all and no matter how many gti bits you put on it lets face the fact it will never be a gti and will never be worth gti money
-
keep the jetta, i love mark 2 jetta's
-
i arranged a viewing but ten mins later got a call saying it was sold, really annoyed but oh well
-
gutted, keep an aye out for another one, they are quite rare compared to the equivilent golf and are usually cheaper too
-
i only ever wanted it for bits for my golf, but i probs would have changed my mind, i bet some little scrot has bought it and it will get abused now

A good friend of mine has a rare Jetta GTX 16v. The only thing is that its a left hooker, originally from Belgium, and its currently for sale in Spain. He's done everything to it, polybushed the entire car, lowered it, ATS cups, gas flowed, Jettex exhaust and much more. Its nearly a minter. Shame its over here.

I'm definately coming around to the look of the Jetta's too, and they are much rarer than the golf's which can only be a good thing.
Shame it went esp for that money.
