Title: bmw 1-series coupe
Post by: BodyThief on 05 September 2007, 19:37
This looks very sexy to me !

The awkward lines of the hatch are transformed on this car. Infact it looks how the 3-series should have, taught and sporty.

Yes, but look at that awful carry over "gash" in the side!!

It still looks like the metalwork is sagging or has been involved in a side on impact.

Okay, in the pictures I have seen it looks good from the rear and great from the front, but I just cannot get over the side view

Now, I would be more interested in how the proposed 135i actually goes

I agree with Hurdy, it has "sagging" sides. Otherwise it looks fabulous.   Goes like stink, too!   But I bet, it is very cramped inside.

did u see the 130 M thing on top gear, it showed the rear leg room and it was pretty much non existant!
Title: Re: bmw 1-series coupe
Post by: Hurdy on 05 September 2007, 19:54
Yeah, Not much room in the back of a one series hatch, so it'll probably be non-existent in a one series coupe.

Wonfer if it will be targetting the VW IROC when it comes out?

yep, saw that show.

Question to ya all: S3 or 135i?

Me: 135i

I like the looks, even the "flame surfacing" on the sides. Like you guys have already said I bet there is no leg room or head room in the back.

Mind you I'd rather have a TT.

what kind of engine is expected in IROC?
Bimmer's biturbo-6 is supreme!

VW are quoting only a 215bhp 1.4TSI at the moment, but I'm sure they will not resist something more tasty

Tried a new TT when I was looking at getting the ED30. I had to lift my 8 year old in, nearly sideways, to get him in the back. Mind you his favourite at the moment is the R8.

Saw R8 on the road today. That's Zurich for you. Porsches abound here, RS4s, S3s, M3s. I've seen McLaren F1 rolling around, Lambos, Ferraris. If I don't see two Aston Martins during a day - it is abnormal. Saw Ford F40 yesterday morning....

R8 looks nice. Went to look at it at the dealers'.

That looks like a "Cut and Shut". Not sure where the different pieces came from.

IMHO BMW have lost the plot recently.

I quite like the "gash" in the side of the 1-series. It makes it more interesting that the slab-like panels of the Golf imo.

2mp w/o autofocus.
The cars drive by rather quickly.
Besides, why would I want to take a pic of R8 or F40? I don't need the pics, actually I don't give a scheisse about what drives by. I notice the cars "so, here goes R8, nice ride there", and I don't give any more thought to it. I have my own car, THAT is what I care about. OTher peoples' cars don't impress me at all.

Popped in by chance on my way to office after lunch. Examined R8 for a couple of minutes, before my attention was captured by a white S3 with gray BBS CH 19s. Spent more time looking at S3 than at R8. Cannot afford R8, so no point to pine over it.  Again, I do not need pictures of somebody else's (in this case - dealer's) car.

....I hear that Sticky Vicky prefers to have fun in a Beemer

I had a straight-6 BMW 3-series 2-door coupe before my GTI. This new 1-series looks like a modern version - Fantastic engine but nothing like as good an allrounder as the GTI. Now the new M3 V8 is quite a different story, though still not as good an allrounder.
