Title: just been toasted by a Mk2
Post by: jonathonturner on 04 September 2007, 18:45
it came onto the M55 at kirkham....and f**k me...ithis Mk2 appears from nowhere and it really really flies!!!

my car has the apr stage one with a milltek, and when the road cleared it just pulled away...i was at full chat.

seriously seriously fast mk2.....

kind of a dark grey, very low with G60 arches and plenty of dash gauges for pressure and stuff...looked super stealthy and it was indecently fast..it then shot onto the M66 and headed for blackburn...

well in mate. ihere's me thinking my buggy was quick!

If you went to the GTI International shows you'd see plenty of heavily modded Mk1's, 2's, even 3's.

How does 0-60 in under 3 seconds grab ya!?

Aha but who has better resale value?

Yeah. I cant wait for the City .:R to come out in South Africa. Thats going to be a reincarnation (Big words) of the MK1 except it is kinda modded with a stunning interior...

Anyone want an import?

how can you say that when there's clearly an age gap of 20 years or so between the two cars!!  Will be intersting to see how much MKV GTI's fetch in 20 years time

a decent MK2 will still fetch over £1500 and thats not bad going for a 20 year old car :afro:

anyway generally i don't try keeping up with MK2's as i know i'll struggle; a MKV is more fair game i reckon :afro:

I was joking. And yeah. What you said is true. It will be interesting. I can get the price of the city Golf here (MK1 build) for you. Maybe we can try work it out

....Probably watching my speed having been able to let go a bit (a lot!) on the German autobahns recently.

You should have waved/signalled, but I don't recall seeing a silver Ed30

Cheers

....What!? on the M5 ?? - No way! The UK isn't the place.

In Germany I managed 143 mph on the GPS speedo. Very good acceleration up to about 135 and then the rate slooows. Aerodynamics of a hatch back also play a significant part. GTI happy to 'cruise' at 120 ish all day if conditions allow and you want to.

I ment Autobahn, of course. 143 makes 230kmh. I've done that number, too. Also by GPS. It was still pulling ok, but I got scared for certain reasons.
