Title: New Arrival
Post by: mafri on 04 September 2007, 00:01
Some of your may remember the long wait had I with the temporary car that bridged the gap between the pick-up of my company car and the delivery of my Golf GTI.

On the 1st of September, I finally traded up to a new 5 door GTI, in Diamond Black with DSG, 18" Monzas, Cruise and iPod armrest. It wasn't particularly well cleaned when I picked it up, so I spent today giving it some TLC using products recommended on this site and detailingworld.

In case you're interested, I used Autoglym Super Resin Polish to start, followed by Poorboys EX-P sealant. Then topped up with Poorboys Natty's Blue Wax, and treated the exhaused with Meguiars Metal Polish and the alloys with Poorboys Wheel Sealant.

Speaking of the alloys, I was really upset to spot a scratch in one of them. I'll need to speak with the dealer tomorrow.

The car is absolutely amazing to drive, everything I'd wish for - and I'm still being gentle!

Sorry some of the pics are a bit dark, the light was fading when I finished, having started at 10am!

Looks great, but I think that you missed a bit just there..............

I bet the neighbours were thinking "he's only just got the car - why is he polishing it already?"

Some interior pics. They never seem to do justice to the standard GTI interior, fabrics look really washed out, etc.

Thanks - I think that my two months with the lovely leaky Rover has made me even more grateful to get the GTI!

It's amazing, I'm still running it in (120 miles on the clock!), but it drives like a limo - until you put your foot down just a little bit!

I know what you mean,

I am driving a 1.3 Polo that was a £600 runabout after selling my Leon Cupra R.

The Golf has been delayed, but I am hoping that It will be here in the next couple of weeks.

55BHP to 200BHP is going to be rather nice.

Don't forget to put your sun glasses in the holder.

They are too big! I can get my prescription sunglasses in the holder, but my Raybans (the ones I wear the most) won't fit in the tiny holder.

Took the car back to the dealer today about the alloy scratch and a defective ski-flap. The flap's being replaced, and they made positive noises about the alloy - I'm waiting to hear what they're going to do....!

Thanks for the comments - of course I put it back in the garage. It's far too nice and shiney to drive!

It's one of those difficult things when it's new - you want to drive it, but you don't want to put many more miles on it........!
