right im after a list of everything i would need to buy/ replace on my mk2 1.3 golf to put a vr6 engine in it. if anyone could offer any help it would be much appreciated, im going to try and get all the bits together over the next couple of months then do the conversion, also anyone know a good place to get an engine from i.e a good breaker?

buy a mk3 vr6... use everything you need from that, then sell whatever is left... by far the easiest and most straight forward way available. especially if ya doing it yourself!
pick up vr6 for couple of grand at most, mate sold his for a grand and it was mint other than it overheated...easy fix tbh but he's lazy and dumb!

cheers for the replys guys, buying a whole vr6 would probs be the best way of doing it but i have no room at the moment to get one and break it up, as i said id like to collect the bits together over time until i can get some time off work and do the conversion, cheers for the link hopefully will help, aint looked at it properly yet

brave lad..vr6 is a hell of a job..
im not sure but a 1.3 golf shell may not be able to stand the force and weight of a vr6, im not sure i must exaggerate!

is it not quite simple mechanically, unbolt the front of the mk3 and bolt it onto the mk2, than start to play with electrics, fuel, suspension

dub shack in coventry are well cool the whole front end coversion kit for £1500

Oh but doing it to a 1.3 will be difficult best to start with a gti!!! You will need the bigger brakes, fuel tank, and if your car is pre 90 a whole load of wiring!!!! unless you fit the whole mk3 front subframe with brakes on( which means changing the wheels to five stud and a mk 3 gti/vr6 rear beam as the track is wider and has rear discs!!! Oh and you suspension will need upgrading!!!! And the vr is a heavy lump!!! so may affect handling!!!! Though if anyone wishes to prve me wrong id love to drive a converted mk2 as id love to fit an r32 engine in to mine????

well im starting it with the 1.3, sorted all the bodywork on it and its now mint, just deserves some more power, ive already got some coilovers but if im using a mk3 front subframe and rear bema these wont fit will they? any recommendation for brakes? what mk3 front subframe will i need, would it have to be one from a vr6? wot other parts would i need, please help me create a list so i can start buying the bits

Yeah your gonna need a mk 3 vr6 front subframe and vr6 or gti "Plus" Rear axle which will wide your track which is good! You can however use a mk2 gti rear axle and change the drive shafts round on the front to keep the original track plus 4 stud set up, You wll need a gti fuel tank, Wiring may be a problem on a pre 90 spec car as the post 90 cars had the same fuse box as the Mk3 Im sure there is a dedicated web site for this conversion, You will also need to chop down the front engine mount though vibra technics do a version esspecially for this conversion and there engine mounts are fab!!!! Mine is a work of art!!!! :nerd:

cheers for that, this is what i can gather i need so far from what everyone has said
mk 3 vr6 front subframe
vibra technics conversion front engine mount
vr6 or gti "Plus" Rear axle
gti fuel tank
would a fuel tank from a pre 90 8v gti be alrite? as my mates breaking his and said i can havesome bits off it before it goes to the scrappy, cheers for the help so far guys
