erm..
on my 8v GTI caqb im having issues with oil pressure. i am not sure if my dipstick and tube thingy are the correct length ... therefore leaving me with not enough oil in the engine.
How long is dipstick from bottom to top not including handle, and how long is the rubber tube at the top of the dipstick.
Please check your mk1's and let me know.. gotta rive to e38 tomorrow and if this buzzer keeps going i will cry.

reet, my 1600 EW is;
dipstick-19.6cm
metal tube at engine-6cm (hard to be accurate)
dipstick doesn't have a rubber tube on mine
Should be the same for an 1800 DX...maybe
-
i thought my problem was lack of the rubber bit that comes out of the dipstick.. but it turns out mine is attached to the handle of the dipstick itself not the tube... YES i appear to have had another blonde moment, but car seems fine again now.. touch wood it'll be ok permanently...
