Title: more light problems!

Heres a strange one......

are there any MOTers out there who can tell me if my car will fail?

when i turn my headlight switch to the 1st position i should get sidelights come on and the 2nd position i should get normal headlights. HOWEVER.... at position 1 i get normal headlights aswell as position 2.

my full beams are unaffected.

my sidelights are working. as when the engine is off and the lights are switched on the sidelights are on. also with the engine off and the indicator stalk up or down they come on on the relevent side as parking lights.

ive got a headlight loom upgrade which makes this more of a pain in the arse to diagnose as theres wires all over and its abit of a mess! ive tried swopping relays and checked all the fuses and connections etc. im really scratching my head on this one.

it has all been working since the loom upgrade. and its only started doing this since i changed my gearbox about 2months ago which is hardly going to be directly related. although i may have disturbed something?

any ideas anyone????  :laugh:

Mine does the same due to my loom upgrade. I get round the MOT problem by plugging the old connectors in just for the test.

yeah i will probably be doing that to as i dunno whats wrong with it! im going to replace the relays and headlight switch but i dont think they are going to be broken.

the annoying thing is, it has all worked since the loom upgrade. GRRRRR

got to be wired up wrong then if it only happen since loom upgrade!! do they got to side lights with ignition off?

its just the dim-dip resistor thats all! Its a standard thing with the upgraded loom. Simply unplug it, and it'll work.

it was the dim-dip resistor!!! However like i said the lights were definatly working before i changed my gearbox!?!? so i think my mate who was helping me puit it all back together may have plugged the bugger back in by mistake!
