i thought about putting a 8v in my 1600 which i had to buy down to insurance
how much work do i have to do .i can get the lump and box loom n ecu
would i have to change fuel lines and pump in tank also mine wont have a lift pump will it and gti will. i was thinking about getting a whole car for the little bits as i need a roof liner and black carpet.
just how much work is this
also ive been offered a 1800 weber will that direct swop onto mine and what will i notice

Might aswell go and buy a gti, and you will still have a problem with the insurance, which might even be higher giving that it's an engine swap and more risk of things going wrong.

Get the Webber and fit a gti manifold and exhaust system, together with a gti cam and cylinder head. That'll get you a bit closer to the power of a gti on your current engine for f**k all effort :wink:

i can get a full gti engine with box for £50 missing the alternator n dizzy .so buy that 1800 weber buy the engine and put the head on mine with the webber also manifolds .i have a full 8v scorpion on mine allready so ill just need a front pipe .
i dont wana buy another golf i loooooove the one i have. cheers mark

Tis better to buy a gti than build one!!!! Fit the carb engine and tune it up!!! something different any way!!!
