Post by: rowlers on 28 August 2007, 18:31

So what wires go to what pins on here:

Heres me thinking it was a 5 minute swap job!

Cheers

This needs clarifying but I think the switches on the console may be different to those in the rear doors. Do you have the correct ones??? Just a thought.

the top ones for UP
the bottom ones for DOWN

multi meter them to find out

Just looking at the diagram below:

http://www.zen62266.zen.co.uk/images/golf/elwindows.jpg (http://www.zen62266.zen.co.uk/images/golf/elwindows.jpg)

This is exactly the same layout as the switch I have. It looks like the diagram shows ground going to the 2 centre pins - have I rad this right?

If so, I only have one ground wire from the VAG switches (And therefore a spare live as the vag uses 3), so do I just split the one ground into 2?

Just for your info folks,

The switches work wired as the piccy, just need to split a ground into 2. and leave one live unused.

im a bit confuses, erm the blue and whit eones go to the top and bottom for the regs i beleive there should only be a live and an earth and the other is ilumination, i don't think you will have a relay on the gsf wiring?

pull the vag switches out and you have 3 lives, a ground and 2 wires going to the regs. (well thats what I had anyway?) the GSF switches need 2 lives and 2 grounds, then the 2 wires go off the the regs. So I just had to split the 1 ground I had into 2, and leave one live unused.

no they work a treat!
They arn't the same quality as VAG switches, but then again my VAG switches had packed it!

I made some little "loom extenders" that plugged into the existing loom and gave me a bit more freedom to get the plugs connected to the GSF switches.

I'll get some VAG ones when I get some spare cash, but there are other priorities atm.

Cheers
