Post by: firemonkey on 27 August 2007, 19:12

I dont see many headlamp sprayers with halogen headlamps, do you have the winter pack (and not tell people about it, then put the their heated seat on full and watch them fidget while they try to work out if they have messed themselves?)

Please dont buy rims off Ebay. Or at least not the 18" Monza ones. They either fake or refurbed or bad

Ok... SHould you buy off Ebay at least try and get a set of genuine rims. I realise it is your car. And your money.

But I saw a thread where a guy had a accident with replica 18's and besides that. You may find the little white worms will come up if they not genuine.

White worms is when moisture gets under the clear lacqueur finish on the Monza 18's. It's usually brought on by the super invasive road salts used on UK roads in winter. The UK has got to be the most motorist-unfriendly place in the universe!

No cure either, a guy I know refurbs alloys and reckons they cant be fixed, only cure is a sand blast and painting. Imagine how seething youd be if youe bought at dealer prices as a retro fit

Oh thanks for that, dosen't look nice and wouldn't be happy if that happened after coughing £1500 for a set. Looks like Ebay here i come.
Why are BBS so must cheaper on the German Ebay ?? Anyone know??

....When they get worse I intend to take them to Lepsons and have them blasted and powder coat painted rather than risk more deterioration. Apparently such white worm problems are not new to BBS alloys but they don't seem to be interested in doing something to cure it.

Hmmm, I think you havn't been talking to the right people, as "Spit and Polish" most certainly can refurb Monza IIs to OEM spec.  There was an article in one of the mags a while back, detailing how they did them.

I dont think its impossible to fix. (My mom wrote off 2 Monzas and sideskirts when she swerved to miss a truck and drove up a pavement)

I think that its very expensive and to be honest I dont think many places would like to take the risk of refurbishing them.

They can be done. But rather. If you can afford it. Buy new rims and have the other ones as spares. Then sell them on Ebay or something when you sell the car.

Sorry, I didn't make it too clear.  Spit and Polish http://www.spitandpolish.co.uk/ are a highly regarded and long established UK wheel refurbisher.  Their costs for refurbing a Monza II would be about £55 per rim, but you'd obviously need to double check the price.  They will . . . well, just read their web site!
