Whenever i sit in a new car the stereos always sound better and bassier than in my mark 2, i kow this sounds obvious i suppose its due to extra insulation or do they amp their speakers from standard? if i amp my front compnents and insulate the doors i suppose i can achieve this sound? can anyone recommend any decent front compnents on a budget? it would have to be 5.25 cm front for the pods. Thansk

yeah, manufactures are fitting better equiptment nowadays, and installing it better in general.
what is your budget?

look at brands like spl dynamics (available from www.caraudiodirect.co.uk ) jbl or fusion;) low budget kit but will be a good improvement over standard.
also get some soundproofing in your doors that will make them sound a lot better aswell :D

yeah about 100 quid, i have covered the door in b!tchumin flash tape not noticed any difference, i mean i find i really have ot turn the volume up loud for it to be noticably audible, i have jbl compnents at the moment think they are the g6 series i forget they are quite old and not that powerful however i have crossovers wired to them.

flash tape is ok but for not alot more you can get products a million times better;)
amping front speakers will help but for more bass the easiest route is to upgrade to 6.5" comps.

The easiest route is to upgrade to 6.5" comps.
Not in a mk2 it's not! (unless you want to shell out)
Plenty of deadening, some good clean power, and open up the back of the speaker to the door (ie cut a hole in the trim directly behind the speaker. At least deaden the area of the door directly behind the speaker.
Don't be fooled by what sounds like deep bass in new standard cars - they tend to have very sensitive speakers which make a lot of noise on little power, but at the expense of accuracy. Aftermarket comps (most) do like plenty of juice!

spot on advice thanks for that.
