Title: Fuel blockage?
Post by: firstVW on 24 August 2007, 15:34
Hello dubbers,

I recently returned from 6 months travelling and was so happy to be bk with my golf. It needed a lot of work as i hit a stag, i live 2 miles from stonor park, just before leaving and had no time or money to do anything about it. I got it all fixed and running and took it for an mot, which after a good dose of carb cleaner, passed the emissions test and the mot. Last night after stopping for about 10 mins, my car started running like a knackered 1 litre corsa. It sounds like a light aircraft, smells strongly of fuel and the revs go up in small chunks. My car is a 1.6 driver, 89 model with webber carbs. Any suggestions on a solution or just theories would be much appreciated.

Thanks all

possibly the rubber gasket block thing underneath the carb, its like a flange, that perishes, has it go on mine causing all sorts of funny air leakages, also check all the vac pipes gonig to and from the carby  not as many as a pb, ut, theyll still be there

Cheers matt. Had a look at that flange thing under the carb and it needs replacing. Where did you get your replacement from?
