I have a mk2 16v, the inlet manifold on it is from a SEAT. is this normal? I have just bought a 50mm VW manifold to replace it, as i like it to all be VW.
Would the SEAT one be a modification? or a scrap yard replacement?
Cheers

Check the engine code stamped on the engine block, should be a "KR" engine. The upper part of the manifold could have been changed for a Seat one as they use a similar engine (what size is it and what throttle body?). 50mm is the way to go on a 16v.
Steve.

The seat one is the same style as the MK3 16V one.
-
Thats correct the 16v engine in the seat ibiza is the ABF engine.
-
Indeed
-
My reason for the throttle body question ;).

Cool, thanks for the info, will check it out.
Stupid question, where will I find the stamp on the block? ;D
-
has anyone put the 50mm inlet manifold on instead of the 42mm one?
what difference does it make ???
-
and how do you tell the difference between the 50mm and 42mm? is it written on it? if not what do you measure????? ???
-
err....I've just read on a different forum that the 42mm manifolds were better for performance?
Anyway, just bought a 2nd hand one from www.findapart.co.uk for ?45
then walked into Volkspares and got sold another one for ?15......
like buses..... ;D

The smaller manifold will give better low-end torque, the bigger mainfold will give more top-end torque.
Ultimately its better to have more torque higher up the rev range for performance.

Cool, so how do I tell which one I've got??? ;)
