ever since i let my dad take my car for a spin my gear stick moves..
i guess he gripped it a bit hard since he'd not driven a manual for a while (used to his auto merc.. bahh)
so now sometimes when i hold it, or change gear it twists around..
is there something i can tighten / glue?
or should i just buy a cool replacement one with blue LEDs inside.. lol
-
erm, have you tried screwing it back up? He might have unscrewed it a bit. If not i reccomend changing it asap as the standard knob is mighty ugly. I got a Momo leather job and changed the gaiter and surroung bit for a tasteful leather and chrome number. It looks nice but it was damn expensive! about ?80 in total.
Also, i'm desperately trying to think of a joke about your dad's tight grip!

screwing? so I just twist it around again? hmm..
thought i'd notice the gaiter being twisted too?
ps.. good job.. coz he'd knock you out :P

The gaiter won't twist with the knob, its just popped in, not connected, try unscrewing the knob completely and pulling it out of the gaiter, you'll see what i mean.
(note to self: keep big mouth away from Overseer's dad!)

lol.. i'll have a look later mate.. cheers :)

ok i had a look, my gear stick isnt in two pieces like you describred.. the gaiter + all the leather right the way up over is one piece.
i was in the stealership next door a few mins ago and they showed me two types on the etka (but couldnt find out the code for me to buy a anniversary gear knob)

fixed this over the weekend.
the stick is in two parts, but thats not visible on my one as like i said before the skirt doesnt stop part way up like i've seen on some, it goes all the way to the top and is secured by the insert with the gear diagram on.
to fix it, i just had to "lift the skirt up" to be able to see the thread, one hard fought extra turn around and its sorted now. leather just needs some TLC in places.
