Title: No life from AMP
Post by: Golf_Spunce on 23 August 2007, 14:02
I have a golf mk4 1.4 16v, i have all my cables run to my amp that did work....i then took it out and put it back in and its stopped working. Have tested the power cable (with tester) and theres current....same as the remote...its on the same earth point!!! any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not too hot on these kinda things but first thing i'd do is check the fuses

yeah i would check the fuses and if that dont work you could of blown the amp, its always a good thing to double check the wiring as one could maybe of got nipped and shorted out.

What order did you take the wires out in and re-wire because is it right you need to leave the earth on last and put it on first?

When you say you've checked that cables, are you saying that you have checked with a multimeter and they're showing 12v+ across the live and earth in the boot (or wherever the amp is mounted?
You've checked that the remote wire is also outputting a voltage?
Does the amplifier iteself have any on-board fuses and if so have these been verified as ok?
IF the answer to all of the above quesions is YES! then I'm afraid your amp is toast.

Recheck the earth wire! Makes sure its really well grounded.

But tbh I agree with what Shepps said.
