Title: mk2 1.3?
Post by: Jungle_Don on 20 August 2007, 12:11
well i bought an rs turbo about 6 months ago from essex i live in leeds now and i stupidly drove it back before i sorted the insurance out got puled when to court and i had my licence revoked and had 6 points! GUTTED Cry

anyway iv repassed my test and now i need a new car and cant afford to insure f*ck all decent cars Cry

along with 6 points i have 1 claim from when my car was stolen in 2005 and classed as having a lcence for only 2 months Evil or Very Mad

one drive of a car f*cked me up good and proper

so im after something cheap on insurance i can resrtore and fix up drive for a for year or too and the do an engine transplant.

iv always loved the mk2 but never owned one.

i know a 1.3 wont be fast but are they reliable how dow they drive? are the engine very noisey tappert? and can this be overcome?

Unlucky. I have had my 1.3 for abit and I love her 2 bits. Nothing gone wrong with her. Tippets are easy 2 get sorted.
Get your self a Webber cabb and lowered and she will be nice ride.

I had a 1.3 Jetta for 7 years and got rid 2 years ago when I had my GTi. She flew through MOT's, ran really well, until I messed about with the Carb. Became bit of a night mare after that, but as long as the carb is set up properly, they are fine and pretty good on fuel. I could get 40 MPG on a run (that was doing about 60 ish - as she only had 4 gears )
Oh, yeah the odd tappet tick toward the end on start-up, but quiet once warm. Got rid after 126000 or so - a long way with only 4 gears!
