Title: How much quicker is a GTI with Bluefin ( NOT ED30 )......?
Post by: thedude on 18 August 2007, 20:39
Been searching but can't actually find any performance stats i.e. 0-60 0-100 etc ?

I mean with an extra 50 bhp ( so its claimed ) its obvious that it should be quite a bit quicker but can't see any stock performance figures ...

Would love to know what a difference it makes.

Cheers

theres graphs showing bhp & torque levels side by side and a road test on the superchips site, but I don't think they recorded 0-60 times (vw driver mag).

Thanks

Would be good to see some performance stats.

Saying that - when i had my Mini Cooper S chipped by Hartge is completly transformed it , suppose will do the same for the GTI...

Well Dude,

Perhaps the best car to compare with if you cannot get stats for the Superchip GTI is a standard ED30. The ED30 has been shown to produce over 240bhp as standard and so a remapped standard GTI would probably give similar performance stats (if not slightly better!).

You also need to check out the difference between DSG and manual.

I know that I have given several comparisons for performances of most of the hot hatches on another thread on this section, It is a while back, so you will have to do a bit of searching to find it.

By the way, my standard ED30 gives 0-60mph in 5.66 secs and a standing quarter of 14.32 at 98.27mph. I would expect at least those figures from a remappped standard GTI, whether DSG or manual.

Manual standard GTI is 0-60 mph in 6 seconds, although how violently they hammered the clutch to get that figure was the subject of another thread again (violent upshifts!!)

Hope this helps.

BTW the only way to be sure is to get the figures yourself with your own car

GTI Bluefin test report here:

http://www.superchips.co.uk/roadtest/VW%20Driver%20Feb07%20Golf%20GTI%20bluefin.PDF

Best way to assess any modification is not necessarily the sprint times, but more the mid range in gear acceleration. Either way, more torque is a good thing, as long as the engine, drivetrain and suspension can handle it. Standard GTI seems good for up to 250 BHP.

Highly recommend Bluefin for your GTI!!

The thing that impressed me was the extra torque that you get. On nice twisty roads the pull it has coming out of 2nd and 3rd speed corners is just awsome! Makes a good car GREAT fun to drive
