Title: spit n' polish
Post by: GavG60 on 24 February 2004, 12:18
;) morning boys n' girls. Nice to see so many golf nuts in one place. I will definately be checking in to ask for your advice on my pride and joy....mk2 16v 5door 71,000 on the clock helias blue.

Can anyone recommend a good polish to make original paintwork gleam? (would love a respray but it lives on a wishlist at the moment...)

I changed my engine mounts recently, did the front one myself, but gave the gearbox and offside to a garage and they fitted for ?80. engine still slams down when I come off the loud pedal? also makes a creaking noise from the nearside front when I move on full lock?

Sorry for all the questions! don't know anyone else who owns a golf!!!!!

Cheers G

Zymol is good, its pricey (about ?12) but worth it. Cheaper option is turtlewax color polish.

I used to use Autoglym and thourght it was the monkeys nuts untill I tried Zymol.

Zymol is the king of polishes.
I'm not talking about the cheap all in one stuff that halfords sell, that is for every day use.

This stuff can only be got on the net so far, and its pricy. It consists of 3 stages shampoo, HD cleanse and wax. All their products are 100% natural no nasty chemicals.

The shampoo will get all the rubbish off your car. HD cleanse is the real cleaner, this will take off tar and even restore hazzing, but not in an abrasive this has no chemoicals or abrasives in it and will not take any paint off, just improve it. The wax then seals it. Fantastic. (expect to pay about ?100 for a kit which includes all the aplicators, but the wax will probably last you a good decade.
