My car is going in for its first service next week and I wondered if there is anything I should ask for?
Which oil should I ask for?
Is there a DSG update? My car is an MY07.
Cheers! :nerd:

Hi mate,
Just ask the service manager if any engine and dsg upgrades are available as its slightly down on power and smoothness on gear changes, since i bought car.
Mine went in for new recaro leather and i mentioned 2nd to 3rd dsg up and down was slow, upgrade sorted it,so i was happy, although i think they will auto do/check for you.
Also, imo,i would think vw would put new 504 oil in,as they dont want any comebackes after service.
I have faith in the service side of my vw,although the service co-ordinator as he calls himself, imo, the prick who books the cars in,is a waste of space and would love to imprint my gti badge on his napper after launch control !!!!
Take it in and dont worry.
Chris.

Call me an old cynic but perhaps them ask them:
1. NOT to kerb your alloys (get the Service Manager out to check them before they take the car)
2. NOT to wash your car after it's been serviced (depending on how much you value your paintwork)
3. NOT to top up the Windscreen Wash (you get charged a fortune for the WW)

And just to add...
4. NOT to give you a set of complimentary dents
5. NOT to rack up the fuel consumption
6. NOT to forget to replace the oil cap

LOL, can you see a pattern forming here about how good the VW Servicing Departments are......

thanks for all the replies.
some valid stuff there, yeah I know about the washer fluid one, got stung a while back with that.
It is a bit scary when some spotty geek behind the desk who earns minimum wage, takes your keys and tears off round the corner in your pride and joy.
One dealer I particularly hate (and now avoid) is VW Chiswick, as their service dept isn't on the same site as the main showroom, you cant see your car being worked on, they take your car "round the back" and you dont see it again till you have paid. C|_|nts.
Fingers crossed then. :undecided:

Not sure how valid it is overseas but ask them to check if the electric windows need a software upgrade.
According to the guys here and our dealer its a common problem where the windows may for no reason go down slightly when the car is parked or locked.
A simple upgrade on the software is all thats needed.
