Title: CD changer & MP3's
Post by: Snap on 14 August 2007, 19:34
With my headunit, im able to play cd's with mp3 on them. I want to get a cd changer and before i strat seaching EvilBay ive got a few question:

1. I have a Sony HU, does the CD changer have to made by sony too?
2. If i put CD's that have mp3's in the cd changer, will the HU recognise them or does the CD changer have to recognise mp3's as well?
3. I dont want to have the CD changer in the boot or under the front passenger seat, any suggestions for different locations?

Ta.

When I had an MP3 head unit, I just burnt 5 albums to one CDRW - hence no need for for a cd changer. If you can get five or so albums on one disk, why not save the money you would have spent on the changer, and the hassle of finding somewhere to house your changer? (Also means that if your car is ever broken into there's less for the b*stards to nick).

Anyway, back to your questions. I'm pretty sure your changer would have to be able to handle MP3's as well. I think it works as a seperate cd player which basically flows the info through to the headunit (so it has its own laser and lense).

Depends on what car you've got and what sort of size the changer is, but in a mk2 what about on the passenger shelf under the glove box, or in the glove box itself....fabricate a housing for it n at least it's easy access
