just a quick question, I have my car on 14" BBS alloys, if i was to drop my car 40mm on springs would it be a noticeable difference (visually)? Also will it improving the handling quite a bit?
thank you

should be a noticeable difference in the look and handling of the car. ive had a few mk2`s and they always benefit from a drop in ride height in my opinion :)
-
awesome! think they look alot better lowered  I have the springs, just waiting for my dads mate to have some spare time to fit them!
thanks :D

yeah the mk2 does look a lot better lowered, i dropped my first one 80mm on 16`s!! they rubbed with anyone in the back and i had to really sort the arches but it was worth it for the look :P
-
sweet, have any pics of it?
hmm, i usually have 5 people in my car including myself ... do you think mine will rub? or does it really depend on how big everyone is ? lol
-
I have just bought some shorter springs for mine.
Just wondered if you have to get the tracking done after fitting or will this not be affected?
Cheers, Dan

Do the tracking / alignment for sure. Wait a week though

Mines dropped 40mm on Eibach's, and the difference was awesome. Tracking and camber done for sure.

40mm is ok, but for some serious change in stance, you should consider a drop of 60mm or more. i think mine is about 80mm ish but i've had arch work to allow for this

yeah i was set on dropping her 60mm but with all the crappy country roads i have to drive on and 6ft high speed bumps at college i thought 40mm would be the best

I have a 40mm on 14's. Was just subtle enough to improve the looks without compromising ride on my harsh local rides.
You will need to go at least 60mm drop IMO if you really want to make it look lowered for style purposes, people who don't know golfs just seem to think it's the standard height.
Handling improvement will depend on the springs you buy. Eibach are the peoples favorite but i have the opposite - GMAX 2nd hand. Not stiff enough for my tastes and little to no handling improvement but for £40 and 2 years use so far i can't complain!
