Hi everyone, just become a new Golf owner, having picked up a Mk2 16V GTi today!! It's a 1991 3-door in dark blue.
It's not perfect, needs a few little things sorting out, but it was a bargain, and I'm over the moon with it! It runs very nicely, and I just had a cracking 30 mile drive back in it.
I've had old cars in the past, and am pretty handy with the spanners, so I should have it all sorted out soon. Main things I've picked up so far:
Spongy brakes (need bleeding I suspect)
Hard to select second and sometimes first gear (linkage bushes?)
Wheels need refurbing
Few small things like bulbs / headlight alignment
But definitely not taking away from the enjoyment!

Cheers guys,
Will take some pictures this weekend.... they will be the 'before' of the 'before and after'!! Just ordered plenty of parts for a major service, including timing belt, tensioner, water pump etc as the car came with NO service history.
After all the oily bits are sorted, I'll be moving onto the cleaning stage!!!!
Can't wait to get it all tidied up (frustrating because I'm away with work at the moment so can't do anything!!)
