Hi all,
Liking the site :-)
My question, my mk2 KR 16v is running a bit hot latley, anything from 100 - 110 dgrees on the MAF (oil temp) its worrying me as it used to be fine at 96.
I can source a mk2 8v rad and was wondering what needs to be changed if anything to fit it too the 16v. i have heard you need a new hose off a fiat :o but other then that is it pretty much straight forward.
Someone on here must have it done ???
Thx

probably a better idea to clean out the oil cooler, its get clogged up with crap
also, the 16v radiator is supposedly better than the 8v one
my oil temp usually sits about 106-108, and can go up to anything as high as 120
water temp never goes above half though

Interesting that you say the 16v rad is better then the 8v. I always wondered why they fitted a smaller rad to the 16v !!! Seems strange considering the 16v has more power output.
So, any tips for cleaning out the oil cooler ????

i think the 16v rad is twin core from what i remember reading
if your worried about the rad you can always get a TDi rad to fit
to clean the oil cooler out just disconnect the two pipes and stick a hose into it
a plastic pokey thing is also good for freeing up the crap

Cheers bud, Ill give it a go at the weekend when changing the oil.

My mates 8v rad went and he put in a mk3..alot better 4 it ..I don't know if the mk3 rad will fit into a 16v.But if it does give it a go..you will get a lot cooler from it..A better rad..He has a 1990 mk2 gti 8v by the way.
