what sort of mpg would a mk1 golf Cabriolet with a 2.8 VR6 engine in do? Engine is from a 80k 1995 highline i think? Obviously ball park figures

0 hahahaha! no... dont think it would be terribly high, around 20ish mark i would think, totally depends on how you drive it, genrally with a vr6, its hard not to put yer foot down at every oppertunity!

I think its fair to say that VR6 lumps are widely acknowledged as being shat on fuel, as said in the 20's

My VR6 does early/mid thirties going steady mid/late twenties when giving it some stick, which is hard not to do given the sweet sound of the motor.Highest I`ve had is 38mpg.I dont do many miles to from work 8 a day total and with a good blast on a weekend its not bad to run at all on fuel a tank lasts a couple of weeks.Would imagine it would be a bit of a handfull in a mk1 mind

I've got a 94 Passat VR6 and its usually around late 20s average - at least a MK 1 cabs loads lighter so should really be better (plus I have my foot down alot!) - got to admit after driving an 89 BMW 535 (try 17-19mpg average) the Passats well economical!

I don't think it's the mpg you need to worry about, it's the cornering with a mahoosive engine in a mk1 that will be your real issue. .....oh yeah, and the braking would be fun too. Other than that, 25ish mpg I reckon.
