Title: my mk2 head unit is strange

hi
i just got my mk2 left hooker tryed fitting a cd player cause the sound of the super charger is now doing my head in lol but there is no life in it u can eject and load cds but when a cd is in there its dead as if no power is going throu to it can u help? :tongue: please

swap your G60 and supercharger with my driver with working HU. You can listen to CD's while i listen to superchargers! Everyones a winner  :wink:  :tongue:

Might be that it has no ignition feed try joining the red and yellow wires from the headunit to the feed and see if it comes on :)

Yeah sounds like the ignition feed's gone, common fault, had the same on my mk3.

Just wire it so it's live all the time and you're away.

i had a power supply problem when fitting my HU. turned out to be a bad earth.

this is the thing which is cookin my head though it has a constent live thats the first thing i done then the seconed thing was checked the earths an fuses .
this is why i need advice cause im just left scratching my head :huh:

You haven't said if you've tried the previously given advice - join your ignition switched wire to your permanent - have you tried this?

I doubt it's an earth problem, if the CD drive is funtioning.

i have not tryed the ignition does any one know whicch clour wire it is or if any one is willin to give me a hand over the phone please say yes and ill send u my number .
i got one week to do it i got the welsh dub fest next sunday lol other wise ill be going up with no sounds lol :grin:

From the headunit it is the red and yellow wires, Join them together then join them to the feed from the car to the red cable and see if that fires up if not try them both to the feed to the yellow cable. If that makes sense  :grin:

thats how mines wired up. permanent live without the ignition and a new earth tho the metal bracket holding the dash parcel shelf up as my poper earth was really weak. i was getting enough power ( @6v) with it to light the on/off switch up but not enough to operate the HU.
