Started up my mk8vgti today to find it running like a bag of nails.
Under throttle there is a top end knock.
I took the ht leads off one by one and it appears to stop the knock when cylinder 3s lead is removed.
Could this be a stuck valve, is there any way of testing? has anyone had this problem.
The car has 108K on the clock with a full fvwsh if that helps, and have never had any bother in the past.

could just be stuck tappets...... as far as i know the valve wont strike the piston........as the cambelt snapped on my 8v didnt touch it.......
get the engine warm and if its still there then something may be wrong...... loud noises only come if somethings give way although the tappets can be very noise if one sticks at start up but 10mins later once oil is hot it normaly goes.....
i have had no trouble with mine and at 198000 miles i'd have expected a spring or anything to go but its still rocking........ i hope you get it sorted i hope it isnt anything major
