Title: Which Springs?
Post by: kkh120 on 09 August 2007, 09:36: Need to replace the rear springs in my 16v. Just looking a standard replacements.

GSF -Ã‚£25+v
Euro - Ã‚£15+V

Any difference?

Forgot to ask, whats the ride height on standard springs?
Is lowering by 40mm a lot?

Post by: dabill on 09 August 2007, 09:54: lowering by 40mm on std shocks is ok, as long as you use decent springs. eibach etc... not gmax or anything halfrauds can offer.

40mm just takes the ride height down a little bit, looks alot better than standard, but doesnt really do too much to handling in my opinion.. but there again, i've only driven cars that have had the springs replaced with pants gmax.

my golf has shocks and spring set and it makes such a difference!

Post by: stomper on 09 August 2007, 10:29: Eibach 20mm or 40mm springs, which will firm up the ride and improve the looks, can be used with standard shocks if they are in good nick.

They are about Ã‚£130 but are top quality.

Post by: rubjonny on 09 August 2007, 16:35: you'll only see a 10mm drop on your 16v, most spring kits are quoted from the carb MK2, and the 16v is 30mm lower than a carby :)
