Title: Write Off?!?!?!?
Post by: hothead_steve on 08 August 2007, 14:24
Bad news guys, was driving along the other day minding my own business when some c*nt pulled right across my path.
at first look it looked like i needed a new drivers side font wing, new front bumper + grill, but on further inspection it seems the whole front end has been pushed sideways so prob gonna be a write off. apparently this can be fixed by putting the car on a jig? anyone know how this works and how much it might cost?
i have pics but dont know how to upload them!
cheers.

did they take the exact mileage when u took the policy out?

I thought they just went by the last MOT cert which gives u a bit of room for error, ie mot and insurance normally diff dates.

just checked out the whole mileage situation and its all ok!
does anyone know how this jig thing actually works?? my mate just mentioned it in passing but i dont really understand what will be needed. also if the insurance say its a write off, will i have to have the work inspected by an engineer or summit before i can legally drive it on the road?

Depends wether its a Cat c or D

If u tell them u want to keep the car normally (or in my experience) its been unrecorded and u agree a pay out,  as if you were to repair the car yourself!!!

I bought a cheap Fiesta a few year back for £300 got rear ended and they gave me £300 told me to fix the car, i put a second hand bumper on for £30 and sold it at £350 ass was, completely unrecorded!!!!!
