i had a tunit tuning box on my gt tdi 130 for a while, i thought it was really good, and easily removed, but they retail around the £500 mark which is revo money. i bought mine for £100 and sold it on for £200 , but if i was spending £500 i'd have a remap, rather than a tuning box.

Do they have any detremental affects on the engine or fuel consumption, and would they be safe to use on my car which has 82k on the clock? I've seen one made by 'The Tuning Box' which seems to look good, but are these proper boxes or just the cheap resistor type made to look good?

i thought all the ebay ones were just cheap resistor types, which aren't worth touching

IMO if you want to get more power then get a proper re-map

the only 2 brands that i have any experience with are tunit and the psi tuning box. these are definetly not cheap resistor type tuning boxes, these are not to be confused with the cheap resistor boxes off ebay.

as said before it worked fine on my golf gt tdi 130, i noticed a slight drop in MPG but i was driving it harder, but i have read of people having them fitted for thousands of miles and having no problems. as with a remap your putting more power through the clutch and more torque through the gearbox, but these vag tdi's seem to cope with it all really well.
