Title: Intermitent lack of power and noisey exhaust!

Ive had this problem for a while now, after driving the car for 10 minutes or so i lose power and the exhaust starts blowing bloody loud, the car struggles to get above 60mph. If i swaitch it off and leave it for an hour or so it runs fine, but only for 10 minutes or so. Any idea's?

its a 1991 1.8 gti 8 valve. It seems to loose its power when the engine's being worked hard. like up a steep hill ect..

sounds like timing, check my digifant tuning guide ;)
