Title: dodgy maf = smoky/cutting out??
Post by: scooter perv on 06 August 2007, 17:29
8v digifant had a few problems which I thought was nearly sorted..but no :embarassed:

Car very smoky when reach  temprature and cutting out when cold so check comp and got

1; 160 psi
2; 150
3; 160
4; 160

Hoping its not the rings and maybe the valve seals and I think the comp test come out ok?
Anyways done an oil/filter  change and new plugs +air filter hoping that would solve the problem..no
Timing checked as per Rubjonnys guide and spot on so then I went to do co test and found a problem.
When turning the co screw clockwise nothing happens apart from the revs slightly  increase, I thought it was supposed to (well I was expecting) give me a lumpy idle. Even with screw done in to stop I get nothing. Is this right? have I done somthing wrong? tuning screw on maf doesnt seem to do anything either clockwise or counter clockwise

I am in need of some help if anyone has the answers I would be more that gratefull..

you did reset the ecu by disconnecting the blue temp sender and reving over 3k 3 times right?  If so the problem could be ain airleak somewhere, your throttle body needs resetting or the idle switch isn't closing/snapped wire to the throttle switches.
